Publish shared contacts
A contact in Faxart is personal by default. You can also publish a contact so it is shared with every user, which is useful for organization-wide fax destinations (a reference lab, a regional hospital, a billing office) that everyone sends to.
Personal vs published
Section titled “Personal vs published”- Personal: visible only to the user who created it.
- Published (shared): visible to all users, maintained centrally.
Published contacts are also the ones served to copiers as the always-available shared address book over LDAP. See Publish an address book to a copier.
- Open Contacts.
- Create or edit a contact and fill the directory fields (name, fax, email, phone, mobile, title, organization, department).
- Mark it shared / published.
- It now appears for every user, and in the shared book copiers can query.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Editing a published contact changes it for everyone, so it is an admin-style action; treat the shared list as shared infrastructure.
- The directory fields you fill here are the same ones a copier sees over LDAP, so keeping them complete improves scan-to-fax and scan-to-email on devices.
